The update below is regarding Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus Sensors. Through routine, ongoing product monitoring, Abbott learned that a subset of Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors are providing incorrect low glucose readings. The manufacturer has since issued an urgent medical device correction on impacted product.

Below, we’ve outlined the steps that Abbott is asking end users to take, as well as additional resources available at this time.

Step One. Identify if your product is impacted.

Visit www.FreeStyleCheck.com and select “Confirm Sensor Serial Number.” You’ll want to enter your sensor serial number here to determine if your sensor is affected. You can find the serial number in the app or reader, or on the label on the bottom of the sensor applicator or carton. If you are using a sensor with a connected insulin delivery device, please refer to the connected insulin delivery device user manual on how to locate the sensor serial number or give us a call so we can assist.

Step Two. If you have impacted product, immediately discontinue use and request a replacement.
If you are currently wearing or have a FreeStyle Libre 3 / FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor that has been confirmed as affected, immediately discontinue use and dispose of the affected sensor(s). You can request a replacement via www.FreeStyleCheck.com, which will be sent to you at no cost. In the meantime, talk to your healthcare provider about how to best make treatment decisions while you await the new product.
